December Updates--LOTS OF PROGRESS! Sticker art, campaigns, and writers!

Hello Golden Backers,

Season's greetings!

I'm excited to share updates with you! In short:

• We are starting to review the campaigns from our writers.
• We are working with our sticker designers and getting some amazing art for the stickers
• The enamel pins have been designed, and we will be ordering as soon as we close our Backerkit survey.

Campaigns

We've gotten several drafts of the campaigns that will be included in our expanded edition from our awesome writers. We will be reviewing them, requesting revisions, and formatting them.

I want to introduce Allison K. Cole and Jordan Osterer who will be collaborating on a campaign.

Allison is an artist and game designer from Montreal with an MFA in Interactive Digital Media and Game Design from New York University. She has a passion for Live Action Role Play, last minute cosplay, and becoming the best Escape Room Player the world has ever seen.

Jordan Osterer has a Masters in film from Columbia University School of the Arts, where he wrote on the relationship between videogames and movies. He has lectured on Second Life and BioShock, and once had to explain to a room of academics what a Rumble Pak was.

Stickers

We have been working with several design students to make art for the stickers included in the sticker packs! We want to thank you, Golden Backers, for helping us create student jobs and work with them on developing their design portfolios.

We have received the first round of drafts and are waiting for revisions. Again, once the Backerkit surveys close and we receive the final drafts, we will proceed with ordering these.

Enamel Pins

Carly made an awesome design for the Enamel Pins and we are just waiting for the Backerkit survey to be completed.

Backer Kit pledge manager!!!

Hello Golden Backers:

Thank you for your patience with our renovations.

I've been hard at work setting up a pledge manager for the project, and, after pivoting due to a struggle, we selected Backer Kit! Be on the lookout for the forthcoming surveys from Backerkit!

Writer Updates

We are also excited to update you on a couple more writers!

Kaelan Doyle-Myerscough [they/he] is a game designer and academic interested in the politics and design processes of worldbuilding. They make games and organize game jams about speculation, complex collaboration and rethinking the relationship between play and locality. 

Kaelan organized #Neighborjam2020, for which Carly and I designed Golden Mart, so it's really awesome to have them on our writing team!

D.E. Chaudron is a queer, nonbinary writer whose work has appeared in the Uncaged series of TTRPG books. They work full-time as a games writer and narrative designer, with notable credits for Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access and DLC for Divinity: Original Sin 2.    Thank you all for your support! It's really exciting to see this project moving forward.

Map Updates

We have received a picture of the updated map from Ryan, our Golden Mapmaker, and it is AWESOME! It's also cool to be able to support people with the money from Kickstarter, so we have dutifully paid our graphic designer thanks to support from all of you!!!

Welcoming Jes Klass to our Golden Team

Hi all,

We are excited the campaign was successfully funded. Carly and I are in the process of reviewing campaign writers for the expanded edition. In the mean time, we want to introduce our newest member who will be joining as our Golden Copyeditor, Jes Klass!

Jes (she/her) is a game designer, writer, and creator currently living in Chicago. She recently finished her MFA in Game Design at DePaul University. Her MFA thesis game, for|rest, has recently been shown at Indicade Horizons, the Southwest Popular/American Culture Association conference, and the Melbourne Queer Games Festival. She currently works at DePaul as an instructional designer, adjunct faculty member, and consultant for educational games and simulations.

Hello Golden Backers!

Golden Mart is now closed for renovation! The Kickstarter Campaign ended, and we successfully exceeded our goal!

Thanks to you all, we raised over 180% of what we asked! We are super excited to expand this game.

Please keep your eyes peeled for some surveys forthcoming in the next few days.
